Cancellation & Refund Policy
To ensure a smooth travel experience and to fairly balance the interests of all parties, we have established the following cancellation and refund policy. Please read and understand the relevant terms carefully before making your booking.
1.Deposit & Tibet Travel Permit Application
Depending on the selected travel package, a deposit—typically 30% of the total cost—is required at the time of booking. The agency will begin processing the Tibet Travel Permit upon receipt of the deposit. 1.If the trip is canceled before the permit processing begins and no service costs have been incurred, the deposit will be fully refunded. 2.Once cancellation is confirmed, the refund will be processed within 10 business days. 3.Note: Bank transfer fees are the responsibility of the traveler and will be deducted from the refund amount.
2. Trip Cancellation and Related Fees
Once the Tibet Travel Permit application has been initiated, any trip cancellation will incur cancellation fees based on the following standards. To ensure a standardized process, all cancellation requests must be submitted in writing (via email or signed document) and will only be considered valid upon our official confirmation.
Cancellation Time (Relative to Departure Date) | Cancellation Fee Policy |
More than 30 days before departure | 10% of the total land tour cost will be deducted |
15–30 days before departure | 20% of the total land tour cost will be deducted |
7–15 days before departure | 30% of the total land tour cost will be deducted |
Within 7 days before departure | 50% of the total land tour cost will be deducted |
No-show / Last-minute cancellation without notice | 100% of the total land tour cost will be deducted |
3. Special Notes
1.The term “land tour cost” refers to the portion of the tour cost excluding international and domestic airfare.
2.In the event of force majeure (such as natural disasters, major epidemics, or government restrictions), we will assist with refund or rescheduling based on the actual situation.
3.Refunds will be processed via the original payment method within 10 business days after the cancellation agreement is confirmed.
If you have any questions regarding this policy, please feel free to contact our customer service team. We are here to help.
Itinerary Changes & Force Majeure Cancellation Policy
Due to the unique conditions of the Tibet region—including political, climatic, and geographical uncertainties—there may be changes to or cancellations of scheduled itineraries. Such situations fall outside the control of Explore Tibetan. To better protect our clients’ interests, the following policy has been established:
1. Solutions for Force Majeure Cancellations
If the trip cannot proceed as scheduled due to force majeure (e.g., policy restrictions, natural disasters, road closures), we will offer you the following two options:
Option 1: Cancel the trip and receive a refund
If you choose to cancel, a handling fee of USD 50 per person will be charged to cover the cost of administrative preparations.
If you booked flights or train tickets through us, the refund will follow the airline/railway company’s policy.
Bank transfer fees will be borne by the client.
Once cancellation is confirmed by both parties, the remaining balance will be refunded via the original payment method within 10 business days.
Option 2: Adjust the itinerary to an alternative feasible region
If you wish to proceed with your trip, we can redesign a similar itinerary for you, visiting other regions that also feature rich Tibetan culture and natural landscapes.
The new itinerary will closely resemble the original plan as much as possible. However, any cost differences or additional expenses arising from the new destination will be borne by the client.
2. Retention and Usage Rights of Cancellation Fees
Cancellation fees collected by our company will be retained under the client’s name for a period of two years. Within this validity period, the client may choose to:
Apply the amount toward future bookings with our agency;
Or transfer the usage rights to a family member, friend, or colleague.
To authorize a transfer, the client must submit a formal authorization via email.
If you have any questions or require clarification regarding this policy, please feel free to contact your travel consultant at any time.
Force Majeure & Liability Disclaimer
1. Political Neutrality and Legal Compliance
Due to the sensitive political environment in the Tibet Autonomous Region, Explore Tibetan always upholds a strict policy of political neutrality and does not participate in any political activities.
All travelers are expected to fully understand and comply with the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China during their stay.
Participation in any political matter is strictly prohibited. Any consequences arising from personal actions that violate legal boundaries shall be solely borne by the individual.
2. Changes Due to Force Majeure & Disclaimer of Liability
If confirmed travel arrangements or service standards must be modified due to weather conditions, emergencies, political unrest, natural disasters, or other force majeure events, neither party shall be held liable for breach of contract.
Any additional costs resulting from force majeure (e.g., rescheduled transportation, extended accommodation) must be borne by the traveler.
If itinerary changes are caused by cancellations, delays, or other disruptions of public transportation (e.g., flights or trains) beyond our control, Explore Tibetan shall not be liable for any resulting financial loss or extra expenses.
3. Group Withdrawal & Fee Policy
If a traveler must leave the group mid-journey due to an accident, injury, or serious illness (with confirmation), only incurred costs will be charged, and unused portions will be refunded.
If the traveler voluntarily withdraws or the entire group decides to leave Tibet early for personal reasons, 50% of the unused portion will be refunded.
4. Destination Risk Notice & Traveler Responsibility
Tibet remains a relatively underdeveloped region. While we strive to select the best possible accommodations and medical resources, remote areas may still present limited facilities, poor sanitation, and inadequate healthcare.
Travelers are expected to fully understand the on-the-ground conditions and prepare both mentally and physically to face high-altitude environments and potential discomforts.
5. Personal Belongings & Theft Risk
Although overall public safety in Tibet is good, travelers are advised to remain vigilant in urban areas and crowded places.
Explore Tibetan reminds all guests:
• Always keep passports, wallets, electronic devices, and valuables secure.
• Pay extra attention to your belongings in hotels, scenic spots, and on transportation.
• We are not responsible for any loss or theft caused by personal negligence. Thank you for your understanding.

If you wish to file a complaint after your trip, please contact us within 15 days of the end of service at [email protected]. Kindly include your original booking reference number and all relevant details.
To ensure your concerns are addressed promptly and effectively, we recommend submitting any complaints or feedback as soon as possible during or after your trip.
